Deadly shooting across from Baltimore church

The call came in just after 12:30 Thursday morning, saying a victim had been shot in the head multiple times just across from Adam’s Chapel A.M.E Church on Garrison Boulevard.

The area has been on the radar of police for almost a year. Last August during then-Acting Commissioner Richard Worley’s town hall, held while seeking confirmation, Horatio Ricer, a trustee from Adam’s Chapel spoke.

“People are scared to go to church. You know, they … use drugs on the church grounds. Prostitute, you know. And I haven’t seen the police walking through the neighborhood at all,” said Rice.

FOX45 has learned that this week, an official from the church sent a letter to police and their council member, addressing the drug dealing and use.

In the letter, the church official was concerned something bad would happen if police did not get a handle on things.

A few days later, a man was shot and killed right across the street from their sacred grounds.

Aundra Ghee is a volunteer with Organization of Hope, which provides mobile drug treatment throughout the city.

“At this church right here, that’s where they station up at. All up on the side. So, we figure we can go someplace where we can be some help,” said Ghee.

He parked his van near Adam’s Chapel Thursday to provide services.

FOX45 crews captured people in the area harassing him for being there and interrupting their activities.
