Two deans appointed to new terms at Johns Hopkins University

Johns Hopkins University has announced that two of its deans, Fred Bronstein at the Peabody Institute and Alex Triantis at the Carey Business School, have been appointed to new terms.

Bronstein became dean of the Peabody Institute, Hopkins’ conservatory of music and dance, in June of 2014. He has been appointed to a third term as dean, through June 30, 2029.

Triantis, who has led the Carey Business School since 2019, has been appointed to a second term as dean, also through June 30, 2029.

According to The Hub, a Hopkins publication, both appointments were approved by the university’s board of trustees last month.

In joint statements published in The Hub, Hopkins President Ron Daniels and Provost Ray Jayawardhana praised the two men for their leadership of their respective divisions, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Fred’s bold vision and determined execution have ushered in a new era of innovation and sustainability for Peabody,” Daniels and Jayawardhana said. “We are excited by Peabody’s remarkable momentum as the institute continues to elevate its national stature, thanks to Fred’s visionary yet pragmatic leadership. Peabody is fortunate to have such a capable leader charting its path forward.”

Triantis “exemplifies the principles of academic excellence, innovation and inclusivity that are core to both Carey’s and JHU’s missions,” they said. “He has earned a reputation as an exceptional leader who deftly guides Carey with his trademark blend of business acumen and insightful collegiality. We are grateful for Alex’s collaborative leadership and know he is the right person to guide the school as it continues to grow and reach new heights of academic excellence.”
